Having thrashed Sway 9-2 away on October 3, Dan Bishop’s men steamrollered bottom club Lyndhurst 11-0 at the weekend.

Incredibly, eight of the 10 outfield players who started were on the scoresheet, as well as sub Sam Carr.

George Gregory and Adam Clark both scored twice with Toby Wilson, Luke Wheatcroft, Harry Frost, Matt Topple, Sam Neal and Dan Goodsell completing the rout.

The margin could easily have been bigger - Goodsell hit the woodwork three times, including smashing a second-half penalty against the crossbar.

‘It was very satisfying,’ said Bishop. ‘I said to the boys beforehand we had to approach the game as if we were playing Paulsgrove on Tuesday.

‘Before we had played well in spells, but not for the 90 minutes. This time we did that.’

Hayling’s players always pay £2 before every game with whoever they all choose as man of the match receiving £20.

At Lyndhurst keeper Joe Boxall got the most votes. ‘I think the lads felt sorry for him standing in the cold without having a lot to do,’ said Bishop.

Boxall will keep his place for Tuesday’s attractive home game with unbeaten Paulsgrove (7.30pm) after replacing Chris Clark at Fleetlands the previous week.

Former Baffins Milton midfielder George Way will make his debut, but Jack Bishop and Alex Jerrom are out after suffering hamstring injuries.

The Humbugs boss is promising to take the game to Paulsgrove.

‘Anyone who knows us knows we don’t sit back,’ he declared.

‘We like to attack teams - that’s why we tend to win comfortably or we lose.

‘Part of me would like to be a bit more cautious, but I like the way we go forward.

‘We need to be brave against Paulsgrove and take it to them.’

Bishop knows all about Grove’s pacy striker Zac Willett, having managed him during his youth career at Horndean.

‘I would have been interested in signing him if I’d known he was coming back into Saturday football,’ he remarked.

‘The last thing I knew he was working on Saturdays, then I saw a tweet that he’d signed for Paulsgrove. He’s a nice kid, good luck to him.’

Bishop added: ‘There will be goals on Tuesday. I’d say to anyone wanting to watch an entertaining game to come down and watch.’

Hayling have belted 32 goals in their last five league games, including failing to score at Fleetlands, while Paulsgrove have netted 41 times in eight league matches.

Completing a good day for the club, Hayling’s reserves beat Liss 4-0 in the Hampshire Combination on Saturday.

The second team fielded a handful of players who have been first team squad regulars - Kieron Mundy, George Rough, Josh Elmes, Jono Collington, Josh Elmes and Clark.

Mundy (2), Rough and Collington were on target.
