Gosport Borough are hoping to benefit from their two-week rest as they visit bottom club Yate Town in the Southern League south & west division (3pm).

The fortnight break has given them the chance to get some key players fit as they look to get their season back on track.

Brett Poate, Aaron Cook and James Ford are all expected to return, and Borough have also swooped to add former Pompey defender Ellis Martin, from Eastleigh, to their squad.

‘Having some of our most experienced players back will make a big difference,’ said Borough assistant manager Mick Catlin.

‘Although we have only lost two league games, a series of draws and our FA Cup exit at the hands of Moneyfields has knocked our confidence.

‘The players need to regain the belief in their ability.

‘It is case of going out and doing the business.

‘Yate might be bottom but it isn’t a true reflection of their ability.

‘They are a hardworking team, with a number of experienced players who can be dangerous.

‘We will need to match their work-rate and then hope our quality comes through.

‘If we are to start putting a run together and climb the table we need to get the bit between our teeth.’

Striker Liam Sewell is a doubt after taking a bang on the head in midweek.
