Goals either side of half-time from Rory Williams and Dan Wooden handed Gosport Borough a vital 2-0 win against Basingstoke tonight.

The duo struck to secure Alex Pike’s side’s 14th league win of the season – and help them climb to 14th in the Skrill South table.

Next up for the Privett Park outfit is an away trip to Hayes & Yeading on Thursday night.

Elsewhere, in the Wessex League premier division, Fareham defeated Fawley 2-0 thanks to goals from Graham Lindsey and Wayne Boud.

Moneyfields produced one of their best performances of the season to beat league leaders Alresford Town.

Stuart Green (2) and Steve Hutchings got on the scoresheet to leave the high-flying visitors shell-shocked.

An uncharacteristic mistake from goalkeeper Jon Webb allowed title-favourites Sholing Sports to grab a 1-1 draw at AFC Portchester.

The Royals led 1-0 at the break, courtesy of a Louie Castles strike, before Webb’s error in the 65th minute.

Horndean suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Hamworthy United.

Dan Sharpe gave the home side the lead five minutes before the break, but the visitors hit back to take charge in the second period.
