Gosport Borough turned on the style at Privett Park to beat Blackfield & Langley 3-0 in the Hampshire Senior Cup third round clash.
Adam Wilde, Justin Bennett and Luke King scored for Borough as they eased to victory.
However, it was not a rout right from the start.
Wessex League outfit Blackfield looked capable of causing an upset as they tore into Borough early on.
Keeper Nathan Ashmore did well to smother a fierce free-kick from TJ Cuthbertson at his near post.
Borough gradually began to show their Southern League premier division pedigree, however.
A cut-and-thrust move split open the Blackfield defence and Bennett, back in the starting XI after injury, was in to thunder a volley just over.
Dan Wooden and Ian Jones combined to cause mayhem in the Blackfield defence and teed up Adam Wilde for the opener on 17 minutes.
Borough’s talented winger slammed the ball home with his trusty left peg.
The Watersiders attempted to reply with a quality move but striker Kevin Gibbens blazed a shot wide of the far post.
Gibbens then wasted a second chance and there was no way back.
Borough turned their clutch on the tie to a vice-like grip.
Lee Molyneaux and Jamie Brown unlocked the defence and Bennett raced through to round keeper Steve Mowthorpe and roll the ball into the empty net.
Early in the second half Aaron Cook’s strike was cleared off the line.
Blackfield then introduced former Borough hitman Nathan Lynch from the bench but the hosts comfortably kept him at bay.
Any hopes Blackfield had of getting back in the match were soon totally quashed as Borough stepped up a gear with a late third.
Wilde created an opening for King who blasted the ball into the back of the net on 89 minutes.
