Horndean claimed the early Wessex League premier division bragging rights with a convincing 4-0 home win over rivals Fareham Town.
Both sides set out with a very attacking mentality at Five Heads Park.
The Deans had the better of the initial chances with Nathan Paxton, Nathan Kirby and Gary Austin all blazing wide of the post.
And it was the hosts who duly broke the deadlock.
Striker Paxton found space on the edge of the area to drill a shot into the corner past Fareham keeper Christian Dewey.
The visitors came out looking a more aggressive side in the second-half, with Callum Laycock going close on several occasions.
But it was the Deans who extended their lead when front-man Robbie Tambling took advantage of a misplaced header to slide the ball into the net.
Dave Carter’s men then added late gloss to the scoreline when Paxton turned provided for both Austin and Tambling to get quick-fire goals and round off an impressive win.
Elsewhere, AFC Portchester won 4-1 at Follands thanks to a double from Robert Evans and Alex Baldacchino.
Moneyfields beat Alresford Town 2-0 with goals from Dan Gauntlett and Alfie Rutherford.
