Fareham ended a miserable week as they surrendered a lead to lose 2-1 at home to Blackfield & Langley.

Graham Lindsey put them ahead but two goals in the second half handed the News Forest side victory.

After their 4-0 hammering at Moneyfields in midweek, Fareham looked to put the experience behind them with a couple of excellent moves that the visitors struggled to deal with.

But after Kieran Lewis and Graham Lindsey both went close to breaking the deadlock, play broke to the other end where Alex Baldacchino saw his shot go inches over the bar.

As the snow began to fall, Fareham were forced to make an early change when striker Dougie Rowe limped off to be replaced by Mig Dark.

And Dark was quickly into the action, racing in to meet a Danny Thompson cross to power a header that brought a fine save from keeper Steve Mowthorpe.

The remainder of the half seemed devoid of ideas from both sides.

With Fareham firing on all cylinders, Lindsey eased them ahead as Thompson’s corner fell nicely into his path and the striker turned to blast home from close range.

It took a fine diving save from Reds keeper Luke Douglas to preserve the lead.

But on 70 minutes, under pressure from Ekone Elliott, Douglas allowed a cross from Manny Soetan to escape his grasp and the Watersiders were back in the match for an equaliser.

Fareham looked to have done enough for a point, only to let substitute Mike Byrne to steal all three for Blackfield & Langley when he nipped in to turn in a corner at the near post.
