BAFFINS MILTON Rovers maintained their perfect start in the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League with a 3-0 home win over Liphook.
Chaz Gardner’s double and substitute Michael Prew’s late strike earned Louis Bell’s side a second successive victory.
The hosts applied all of the early pressure, with Gardner whipping in a corner that flew past the foot of the far post.
The best bit of skill in the first half saw Baffins go closest to breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute.
It was that man Gardner, who cleverly dragged the ball back raced outside his defender and sent a shot bouncing past the far upright.
Baffins were unable to impose themselves on a Liphook side presenting them with a strong physical challenge.
Five minutes before the break, however, the lively Gardner took advantage of some poor defending to put the hosts ahead.
Harry Byrne then had a great chance to extend the hosts lead early in the second half but chested the ball straight to the goalkeeper from three yards.
Soon afterwards, Byrne went close again with a drive that flew just over the top.
The home side were starting to look threatening and substitute Morgan Moret saw his well struck shot pushed out by the goalkeeper.
Gardner forced another good low full-length save from the goalkeeper as Baffins got on top.
Liphook, to their credit, continued to frustrate Baffins with their hard work.
But another goal from Gardner and one from substitute Prew in the final 15 minutes sealed the win for Baffins.
Meanwhile, Gosport Borough ended their pre-season with a 4-0 win over Horndean at Privett Park.
Jamie White gave Borough a 1-0 interval lead with Lee Wort second-half double and Steve Ramsey securing a comfortable win for Alex Pike’s side.
