Pearce: New striker would make Rocks a top-six team

Have your say

JUSTIN BENNETT scored twice as Gosport defeated Taunton 2-0 in the Southern League south & west division.

The sides were level at half-time but Bennett sent a screaming header home for the opener.

The striker added another, volleying in a fine effort, just seconds after the celebrations of the opener had finished.

Bognor continued their run in the FA Cup with a nervy 3-2 win at Maidstone.

Terry Dodd got two goals for the Rocks and an own goal sealed their progression to the third-qualifying round.

In the Wessex League premier division, Fareham recorded an amazing 6-2 win at Totton & Eling.

Wayne Boud scored a hat-trick of penalties and Rob Tambling was also able to notch a treble, sealing his three-goal blast with a spot-kick of his own.

It was not such a good day for Horndean in the premier division, as they lost 3-0 to Hamworthy United.
