Gosport almost caused an FA Cup upset at Bath only to be denied by a late penalty in a 1-1 draw at Bath City.

Dan Wooden headed Alex Pike’s men into a second-half lead in the third qualifying round contest.

However, an unintentional handball in the Gosport box gave the Blue Square Bet South outfit a route back into the game.

And they duly took it, with Charlie Griffin levelling from the spot to book a replay on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

An under-strength Bognor battled well but slipped to their second Nyewood Lane defeat of the season in a 1-0 loss against Wealdstone in the Ryman premier.

And they saw their selection problems worsen as man-of-the-match Kane Wills was red-carded for pushing an opponent late on.

The Rocks were already without several senior players because of injury.

In the Wessex League premier division, George Way made an instant impact for Hayling United but he could not inspire victory in a 2-2 draw with Lymington at the College Ground.

The on-loan Gosport talent added to Ryan Gadd’s opener as the Humbugs went 2-0 ahead late on.

But back came Lymington with two goals in the final five minutes to snatch a share of the spoils from the premier division encounter.
