The Hawks started the new year with a disappointing 4-1 Blues Square Bet South defeat at the hands of high-flying Dartford at Westleigh Park this afternoon.

The visitors took charge with two first-half goals, and although Scott Jones pulled a goal back for Shaun Gale’s side midway through the second half, Dartford added two more to run out comfortable winners.

Bognor failed to get back to winning ways as they threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Ramsgate.

With Monday’s 3-0 Ryman League division one south defeat at the hands of Whitehawk still fresh in the memory, the Rocks looked on course to seal a vital victory when James Crane and Ashley Robinson put them firmly in control.

However, two second-half goals from the visitors ruined their day as the points were shared at Nyewood Lane.

There was better news for play-off-chasing Gosport Borough in the Southern League division one south and west.

A hat-trick from Liam Sewell and a Brett Poate free-kick earned them a sterling 4-0 victory at Didcot Town.

In the Wessex League premier division, Moneyfields made it six wins out of six with a comfortable 3-0 win at Lymington Town this afternoon.

Jamie Hore, Conor Bailey and Sole Asajile were on the scoresheet for Miles Rutherford’s high-fliers.

Elswehere in the division, Fareham earned a valuable point as they drew 0-0 at Newport (IOW) – despite having Ollie Warren sent off him the second half.

Meanwhile, Horndean lost 4-1 at Hamble.
