Lee Tigwell was both provider and scorer as he inspired Hayling to a 5-2 derby win at AFC Portchester.

The Humbugs made a great start with a goal in the second minute. George Vince’s throw played in Lee Tigwell down the left and when his cross fell to Adam Turner, the midfielder engineered enough space to beat Jason Plomer at his near post.

After so many weeks without a game, the Portchester defence looked a yard off the pace as Hayling made all the early running.

They were caught cold again in the 18th minute as the visitors increased their lead.

This time Tigwell swung in a free-kick from the right and Nathan Kirby was left unmarked to head home from 10 yards.

The goal seemed to shake the hosts from their slumber and they went close to reducing the arrears twice in a matter on minutes.

Blu Boam’s speculative shot hit the bar, and when Woods beat the keeper to a long through ball his shot spun wide of the post.

Hayling should have had a third 10 minutes before the break but Tigwell’s cross was a yard in front of Alex Easton as the striker bore down on goal.

Five minutes after the restart, the home side were back in it thanks to an awful mix-up between Hayling keeper Chris Clark and Andy Brown.

Both left the ball to each other and Simon Woods was left with the easy task of rolling the ball into an empty net.

Any hopes of a Portchester revival disappeared, though, when Tigwell capped a fine performance with two goals in as many minutes.

In the 65th minute, the striker produced a stunning long-range drive into the top corner. And with the next attack, he took advantage of some hesitant defending to add the fourth.

Woods grabbed his second of the match to pull a goal back for Portchester. But Glyn Cooper made it 5-2 with 10 minutes to go.
