Moneyfields defeated Christchurch 1-0 in their FA Vase replay at Hurn Bridge last night.

Jack Lee’s first-half goal ensured the visitors pocketed the £900 prize money and booked a date with Bath-based Odd Down in the next round.

Moneys boss Miles Rutherford named his assistant manager Graeme Gee in goal – in place of the injured Dave Hook.

Meanwhile, Warren Hunt was left to plough a lone furrow up front in the absence of Steve Hutchings.

Gosport Borough boss Alex Pike arrived in time for kick-off, intent on watching Moneys midfielder Shaun Wilkinson – for whom he has made a seven-day approach.

And Wilkinson impressed from the start, sending Hunt away to fire in a cross Jake Raine almost converted at the far post.

Another neat move saw Rob Evans bring the best out of former Borough keeper Max Frampton.

Thirty minutes of pressure paid off for Moneys when Conor Bailey lifted a corner to the far post where Lee forced his way in to thunder it home.

And from the restart, Moneys had a penalty appeal turned down when Bailey cut a path through only to be felled from behind when lining up a finish.

Just before the break, Hunt and Bailey created an opening for Raine but, off balance, he could only turn the ball into the arms of Frampton.

As expected, the hosts came out fired up after the interval.

And it took a goalline clearance from Moneys skipper Russell Rackley to deny Carl Foster.

After Wilkinson had gone close, Gee showed he was up to the job when he came to Moneyfields’ rescue with a full-length save to deny Foster.

Moments later, though, the striker beat him.

Foster’s effort looped over Gee – only to spin wide off the base of the upright.

Lady Luck continued to shine on Miles Rutherford’s side as they came under further pressure.

Dan Saul, with just Gee between him and an equaliser, blazed wildly over.

And that left Moneys to see out the final few minutes.
