Horndean eased to a 2-0 Wessex League premier division win over Whitchurch United at Five Heads Park on Saturday.
The fifth successive win for Craig Pearce’s side kept them level on points with Salisbury at the top of the table.
Pearce, who took over the reins when Dave Carter departed for Moneyfields, is delighted with his side’s continued progress.
‘We have found a way of playing that works for us and will see how far we can go,’ he said.
‘Keeping four clean sheets in our last five games has been particularly pleasing.
‘It wasn’t easy for either team on a soft pitch but in the end we adapted the better.’
Robbie Tambling put the home side ahead in the first half – cutting in from the left and rounding the goalkeeper before slotting his shot into the bottom corner.
Nathan Kirby headed in a second goal on 63 minutes from a free-kick.
