Now they are targeting a strong season in the Wessex League premier division.

Competition for places is good within the squad.

They got excellent draws at AFC Portchester and Shaftesbury before winning on their FA Cup debut.

The players and the coaching staff have been working very hard in pre-season to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Assistant boss Steve Ledger is delighted with how the squad are shaping up and how they have embraced what the management are asking from them.

He said: '˜The strength in depth is brilliant. We have competition for places in every position. There is always another player tapping on the door.

'˜We had a really tough pre-season and are seeing that benefit them.

'˜As an ex player I know what it is like. I used to despise pre-season but our lads have shown that if you work hard you get the benefits.

'We have the same players from the end of last season and it's been good. We are working with the guys who finished the season so strongly.

'˜The manager Steve Leigh was one hell of a player. I had the pleasure of playing with him around the Wessex League.

'˜Here the players are taking on board what he is trying to put in place.

'˜The attitude has been very good and the discipline.

'˜They are a very hard working group.'

Players are coming through the ranks at the club and that is also helping to add to the competitiveness of the group.

Baffins are continually building and that feeling is positive.

Ledger added: '˜The competition for places that we have got means that if one of the lads is having an off-day we can bring someone else in.

'˜We haven't really signed any big name players.

'˜The good thing is we have such a strong reserve set-up. Players have stepped up at the beginning of the season.'
