Fareham Town had to settle for a point as they fought out a 0-0 Wessex League premier division draw against Laverstock & Ford at Cams Alders.
Assistant-manager Mickey Cripps, in charge for a month in manager Matt Parr’s absence due to work, felt his side looked weary following a hectic run of games.
‘We lacked a bit of quality, particularly in the final third, and I though a bit of tiredness crept into our game,’ said Cripps.
‘In the first half we were sluggish but, to their credit, our opponents were very workmanlike and had willing runners.
‘In the second half we were better and asserted ourselves more, pinning them back.
‘Unfortunately, we still lacked a cutting edge.
Substitute Sean Dark went closest to winning it for the Reds seven minutes from time with a shot from outside the area that smashed against the inside of the post and rebounded across the face of goal.
n Fareham are in action again tonight as they entertain Totton & Eling in the Russell-Cotes Cup at Cams Alders (7.45pm).
