Fareham Town took another huge step towards Wessex League premier division safety with a thumping 4-1 win over Alresford Town at Cams Alders.

The hosts demolished their relegation rivals with goals from Liam Kimber, Josh Taylor, Ash Tattersall and Simon Woods.

Reds boss Steve Stone said: ‘We are not quite safe but we are nearly there.

‘Thirty-five points should do it, which means we need three more.

‘If we do stay up, considering all that has happened this season, it will be a fantastic achievement.

‘The players should be immensely proud of their efforts.’

Kimber gave Fareham the lead with his first goal for the club.

Three minutes before half-time an inswinging cross from Taylor crept in at the far post.

Woods scored a fantastic solo goal, running from his own half before calmly slotting home.

And Tattersall then netted far-post header before Alresford hit a stoppage-time consolation.
