G raham Rix reflected on his side’s 4-2 triumph over Fawley and branded their performance ‘rubbish’.
The AFC Portchester boss watched as Nathan Kirby and Jamie Musselwhite finished off quality moves to put the hosts 2-0 ahead.
A red card for Josh Maddison then gifted Fawley a way back into the match.
And they took it, with Matt Vining netting from the spot and Ben Murphy crashing home an equaliser as Portchester’s defence capitulated.
Substitute Josh Holmes then took centre stage, sparing the home side’s blushes with two goals – one from the spot, the other a superb lob – in a stunning 10-minute cameo.
But while the Portchester fans went home happy, Rix saw things differently.
And he kept his side, who travel to Brockenhurst today, out of earshot in the centre circle as he delivered his post-match appraisal.
He said: ‘As if they didn’t need reminding, I told them it was a rubbish performance and they were fortunate to have got away with a win.
‘These lads are not professionals and do various jobs outside of football and everyone, including me, must bear that in mind before making rash statements.
‘But at the same time, the standards set at the club must be adhered to and they know anything less is not acceptable.
‘Fortunately, we finished well to recover and take the points with a penalty and a superb second goal from Josh that showed what we are all about at our best.’
