Pike sacked by Gosport Borough – again

Bognor are urging fans to be patient as they try to come through a wretched period on and off the pitch.

A 3-0 Ryman premier defeat at Margate – their sixth loss in seven league games – was followed by news another two players were leaving Nyewood Lane.

Defender and former skipper Ben Andrews is retiring after failing to get over persistent injuries and goalkeeper Nick Jordan is taking a break because of shoulder trouble.

In terms of the Rocks’ recent problems, it’s a fairly typical week.

But they head into tomorrow’s home clash with Wingate & Finchley with the management praising fans for staying behind the team.

Bognor have slipped from fourth to 13th in the past two months and still need a couple of wins to avoid the drop.

Wingate & Finchley had a staggering five players sent off in a 1-0 home defeat to Thurrock last Sunday – but they are not yet suspended.

Prolific AFC Portchester striker Simon Woods has signed on dual registration and may feature tomorrow, while teenage Pompey centre-half Josh Warren has been drafted in to cover.
