Horndean produced a dramatic second half fightback to beat Hamworthy United 6-2 in the Wessex League premier division at Five Heads Park tonight.
Craig Pearce’s side started brightly and were unlucky not to take an early lead.
On six minutes Josh Maloney struck the post with a left-footed shot from the corner of the area.
The visitors made the most of that to stun the home side with two goals in three minutes.
On eight minutes, skipper Greg Horlock put the Dorset side in front and soon afterwards Brad Gale added a second goal.
The home side were rocked back on their heels and could have fallen further behind when a long-range effort crashed against their crossbar.
After the break, Sam Smart reduced the arrears in the 54th minute but within five minutes the home side had Ian Humble sent off.
Despite that, Lee Tigwell levelled for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
Straight from the restart Hamworthy had a player sent off and though Tigwell’s resulting penalty was saved, Jack Maloney knocked in the rebound.
Smart fired in his second and Robbie Tambling added two more goals in the final eight minutes to wrap up a fine win.
Two early strikes from Andy Maunder helped Fareham Town to a 3-0 win over Folland Sports at Cams Alders tonight.

After three minutes Maunder beat the offside trap to run on and score with a neat finish.
The Reds made sure of all three points in the 83rd minute when Callum Laycock deflected a Luke Heard shot past the visiting goalkeeper.
