Gosport Borough suffered a 2-0 defeat at Sutton United tonight as they slipped back into the Skrill South relegation zone.

With a FA Trophy final against Cambridge United on the horizon, boss Alex Pike made seven changes to the side who beat Boreham Wood on Saturday.

However, his freshened-up side were unable to claim anything from the game, with Gavin McCallum and Jamie Taylor scoring either side of the break for the winners.

Also tonight, in the Wessex League premier division, Jack Salter-Vaile, Jake Thomson and Danny Thompson all scored as Portchester returned to winning ways at home to Romsey.

Horndean slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat against 10-man Totton & Eling.

The visitors were reduced to 10 after 15 minutes, but the hosts failed to make it count.

Mark Smith scored the Deans’ goal but two goalkeeping errors condemned the home side to defeat.

Fareham crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Lymington Town in the New Forest.

But Bognor’s Ryman premier promotion push was given another boost when they won 3-1 at Canvey Island last night. James Crane, Arron Hopkinson and Ollie Pearce scored to take the Rocks just a point behind second-placed Maidstone.
