Gosport Borough crashed out of the Hampshire Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage after a 3-1 defeat at AFC Totton.

Luke Roberts opened the scoring for the hosts when he ghosted into the box to meet a Jack Odan cross and beat keeper Nathan Ashmore from close range.

And before Borough could regain their composure, the Stags doubled their early advantage when Mick Gosney converted another Odan cross.

In an attempt to half the deficit, Sammy Igoe saw his effort strike the Totton crossbar, before Lee Molyneaux limped off to be replaced by Elis Martin.

But it was the home side who continued to impress, with Ashmore kept busy by Gosney and Roberts.

In the second half, Borough’s Sam Wilson and Pete Macklin saw their efforts cleared off the line.

And the visitors were made to pay when Ryan Hill scored from the penalty spot when Odan was fouled.

Just before the final whistle, Borough got on the scoresheet when Luke King was on hand to score a consolation.
