Hawks midfielder Scott Donnelly has carved out an impressive reputation as a midfielder with an eye for goal.
That much was evident when the former England under-17 international was crowned the Westleigh Park outfit’s top goalscorer in the Vanarama Conference South last season with 15 goals.
And the 27-year-old, who recently penned a two-year deal with the non-league outfit, was at it again yesterday as he netted both of his side’s goals in their 2-0 pre-season victory over Eastleigh.
Donnelly’s first effort caught the eye as he expertly volleyed across goal past helpless Spitfires keeper Lewis Noice.
But it was his second that left supporters and players alike dumbstruck after he sensationally lobbed Noice from 15 yards inside his own half.
Spotting the National League stopper off his line, Donnelly pounced on a bouncing ball to fire home an audacious half volley that bounced once before clipping the post on its way in.
