Peter Crouch says Portsmouth's victory over Tottenham Hotspur in FA Cup semi-final still 'grates' on himÂ

The former England international striker and his Spurs side, managed by ex-Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp, slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the home of English football. 

The game, which lives on long in the memories of Pompey fans, saw the South Coast side advance to the final again just two years after lifting the cup in 2008. 

Crouch played for Portsmouth between 2001 and 2002 scoring 18 times but was in the Spurs side on April 11, 2010, when the sides met at Wembley. 

And in the dugout for the Tottenham side that day was another familiar face for Pompey fans '“ two time former manager Harry Redknapp who guided the team to FA Cup glory before leaving for the North London side. 

Pompey game out winners that day after extra time thanks to a 99 minute strike from Frédéric Piquionne and a Kevin-Prince Boateng penalty in the 117 minute. 

And Crouch is still stung by the loss at Wembley. 

Writing in his column for the Mail Online on Friday (November 2), the ex-Portsmouth striker responded to Gary Neville's criticism of Spurs failure to win anything. 

Crouch wrote: '˜Harry did a brilliant job taking us from bottom of the Premier League to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in two years.

'˜What we could not do, though, was make the last big step.

'˜We had a reputation for losing games that mattered and the 2010 FA Cup semi-final against Portsmouth is a prime example. It still grates with me that we lost that game at Wembley.'
