Southend v Pompey: pre-match talking points

Have your say

National glory is the goal for Portsmouth Grammar School (PGS) talents.

The city starlets have booked their place in the Independent Schools’ Football Association (ISFA) finals on Monday.

The seven-a-side, under-11s tournament takes place at the FA’s new national centre at St George’s Park in Burton-upon-Trent.

PGS sealed their spot when an extra-time header from William Doyle saw them crowned Surrey & Hampshire regional champions.

Alex Chappell, head of boys games at PGS, said: ‘The whole school is really proud of them to have got this far in a fiercely competitive tournament.’

Gunning for glory will be Doyle, Robert Quinn, Edward Moger, Giorgio Dellesite, Michael Slaven, Jack Pearce, Johannes Luckmann, Freddy Wood, Grant Jackson and Cameron Clark.
