‘We were so clinical in front of goal and if you have any spell like that in a match it is going to win you the game,’ said Pike.

‘Ben Wright has scored goals all pre-season but his hat-trick was outstanding.

‘I don’t think we have had anybody in the last three or four years who can strike a ball like he did for his second goal.

‘It was pure quality.

‘He scored 18 goals at our level last season and I can see him getting a lot more this year.

‘The way Chris Flood and Warren Bentley move around up front will make them a handful for any team.

‘I have now got three forwards in the team who are capable of scoring 20 goals each in a season.’

On Friday evening the Hawks beat Team Solent 6-1 in a game cut short by 13 minutes due to floodlight problems.

Matt Paterson scored twice and Alfie Whittingham, Alfie Rutherford, Harry Medway and George Barker also netted for the Hawks.

Moneyfields slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Salisbury.

Alex Shephard and Dan Gauntlett scored for Moneys.

Petersfield Town won 3-2 at Hamble Club.

And Fareham Town suffered a 1-0 reverse at Liss Athletic.
