Enjoy that then, Vicky?

It was a lot better, in fact we should have scored more than the two we got.

It was a case of doing the job. It wasn’t a ‘Wow, I’ll remember that performance a few weeks later’, instead it was the team doing what needed to be done.

There was nothing controversial, we finished up with 11-men and the win, mission accomplished.

Although I didn’t think Marc McNulty and Conor Chaplin were on the same wavelength as a strike partnership, they didn’t interact too well.

And Cambridge United were fortunate to get a goal.

You mentioned Cambridge’s goal, harsh on Ryan Fulton?

Yes, he’s still looking for that clean sheet and one little lapse from the defence in the last minute cost him one.

Fulton has been building up his confidence as weeks have gone by, doing the simple things right.

When he first arrived at the club I was not sure of the decision, but over the last couple of weeks he has started to impress me more.

I was never a massive fan of Brian Murphy, while it does worry me somebody as young as Alex Bass on the bench.

Fulton has done well, though, especially for a young lad to come down from Liverpool and play behind players with so much more experience than him.

Any players stand out for you?

Adam Webster was my man of the match, just shading Kyle Bennett.

He was comfortable carrying out his normal defensive roles and then carried on with a forward run to get our second goal.

I was sat there in the Fratton end watching him get into the box thinking ‘You shouldn’t be doing that’. Then it was ‘Well done!’.

I am not fussed either with Bennett, not a massive fan or on his back. But on Saturday he did stand out.

And the referee Oliver Langford?

I don’t think he was very consistent in general.

He seemed to get cards out quickly, but didn’t deal with Jimmy Spencer, who was lucky to stay on.

Shaun Derry knew his player was on a very thin line so took him off.
