Pompey Academy stroll to Southend success
The Blues have now recorded three wins from their opening five fixtures – with Theo Widdrington, Kaleem Haitham and Harvey Bradbury on target in a superb team display in Essex.
Goalless at the break, Pompey made the breakthrough on 65 minutes when Widdrington’s clever free-kick caught the Shrimpers goalkeeper out at his near post.

Bradbury put the seal on the win with five minutes to play, following up after Widdrington’s stunning strike had been tipped onto the crossbar.
Coach Mikey Harris said: ‘It was a good win and just a really pleasing team performance.
‘I was delighted with the way the boys defended and also the way they dug in and worked hard on a difficult surface.
