And the former striker described joining the Blues as the worst mistake of his career, in a vicious attack on the outfit he linked up with in 2006.

The Nigerian-born Polish international failed to make an impact at Fratton Park, making just two sub appearances after being signed by Harry Redknapp.

That deal arrived after he left Greek outfit Panathinaikos, and Olisadebe delivered a withering assessment of the club and city.

Olisadebe told Sport24.gr: ‘I was told I could leave (Panathinaikos) so I did. I signed a contract with Portsmouth for less money than I had in Panathinaikos.

‘It was a very bad decision to leave a club like Panathinaikos for (one) as small as Portsmouth. They did not even have their own training centre.

‘(The) changing rooms were in terrible condition. I was in despair when I was in Portsmouth.

‘A hideous city with only one shopping centre, no nightlife. The biggest mistake in my career.’
