Pompey boss: Conor Chaplin asked not to play

Hide AdThe 21-year-old has become frustrated at the failure to secure a move away from Fratton Park this summer, with Coventry and Barnsley long-time admirers.
Since then he has played just 24 minutes of first-team football during the campaign.
And, ahead of Friday's loan deadline, he has asked to be removed from the Pompey reckoning.
Jackett said: '˜In his own words, Conor didn't feel that this weekend he was in the right frame of mind.

'˜If we find a replacement then fine, we'll contact the clubs that have made enquiries. If we don't get a replacement nothing's going to change.
'˜All players, not just Conor, make their own decisions on what they do and as a manager you react off that.
'˜I understand that he is frustrated and he's very much a team player who would want to be able to give everything for the lads and focus 100 per cent with the players that are there.
'˜I can only reiterate there is going to be no change in stance in the last week.
'˜If we can bring another forward in that we think helps us then fine. If we don't, nothing will change.'
