Pompey fans back Evans to get new Fratton Park contract
The Blues skipper demonstrated his importance to Kenny Jackett again on Saturday by popping up to score in the 1-0 win against Bradford.
His winner was his fifth goal of the season, placing him third in Pompey's current goalscoring charts.

Hide AdEvans joined Pompey as a triallist in 2015 and currently sits on 149 appearances for the club.
This summer sees the end of the 30-year-old's contract, alongside those of Jack Whatmough, Nathan Thompson, Dion Donohue and Danny Rose.
The Blues revealed in The News last month that contract talks are on hold until the new year.
But we've been asking fans whether Evans' future should be decided now with a new deal?

Cath AbsolomÂ
He actually covered at least five different positions in the same game on Saturday '“  vice-capt, stand-in skipper, defender, midfielder & striker all rolled into one!.
So my current response is definitely a yes, as he recently made it very clear that he & his Wife are really happy & settled here now.
Perry GrovesÂ
He's not Championship quality unfortunately. If we go up he would be a dead weight.

Hide AdI'd give him another year now. Is he Championship quality, possibly not, but we are a long way off from getting there yet anyway.
A new contract extension gives him security that he has earned with his versatility, work-rate and consistency.
Ryan BoareÂ
100-per-cent class act on and off the pitch.
Jo BlackmanÂ
Definitely. He can play all positions and always gives 100 per cent.
Ryan CooperÂ
Would be a dead weight? Oh dear! Really?
Bradley Wareham
Love the guy, give him another 10 years!
Sam GouldthorpÂ
Yes he does for sure.
For me he plays an important part in the team. No tantrums when he was dropped, he dug in, trained hard and earned his place back.
Stephen SackettÂ
Gareth Evans is a blue is a blue is a blue. Sign him up.

Hide AdDifficult. Never really understood his real football talents. But he seems to make a team work!
In my mind he does give a certain authority to others around him, as a footballer I'm not so sure where he fits, but I do know he loves Pompey and he seems to bring the best out of us when he's there!
Good for Pompey as it stands? YES for me!
But long term championship player? Not!
