Pompey’s Adam May, Ben Tollitt and Calvin Davies met fans at Covers Timber and Builders Merchants, in Norway Road, Hilsea this afternoon.

Covers has renewed its sponsorship deal with Pompey until the end of the 2017/18 season, and it will continue to be an official club partner, with its branding appearing on the kit and stadium perimeter boards.

Ben said: ‘It was nice to see the fans, especially the kids. They don’t see us all the time. They just get to see us running around on a Saturday so it was nice to meet them and to see the smiles on their faces.’

Adam said: ‘It was nice to see everyone turn up today and to have a good time.’

Among the fans was 11-year-old Martin Lloyd, from Waterlooville.

He said: ‘It was brilliant because I saw Tollitt do his goal assist with Gary Roberts in the Crawley game, so it was amazing to meet him.’

Covers manager Dale Lambourne said he was pleased with the event.

He said: ‘It is the first time we’ve done something like this. The fans rarely get the opportunity to see the players unless they are waiting outside the grounds so this has been a great way for them to meet and speak to them, without having to queue for too long.’

Covers also sponsors the Sports Mail, which is produced by The News.
