Pompey legend to undergo surgery

Pompey legend Alan McLoughlin is today undergoing surgery.

The Academy coach will have a kidney removed.

It means the popular figure will be away from Fratton Park for a few weeks.

In a statement, the club said: ‘Everyone at Pompey wishes ‘Macca’ a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back at work as soon as possible.

‘We ask everyone to respect the privacy of him and his family at this time.’

As a player, the Republic of Ireland midfielder made 354 appearances and scored 67 goals in nine season at Fratton.
