This week’s referee is Barnsley official Darren England.

Prior to becoming a referee, England proved himself as one of the country’s best assistants, even running the line in the 2015 FA Cup final between Arsenal and Aston Villa.

He also been involved in the Community Shield, a UEFA Super Cup and a European Under 19’s Championship final.

Last season was England’s first full campaign as a referee, taking charge of 30 matches in all competitions, handing out a total of 97 yellow cards and six red cards.

He has continued to develop this season and last weekend took charge of QPR’s game against Cardiff - his first-ever Championship game.

England has previously refereed Pompey, taking charge of the Blues’ 3-1 over Barnet last season.

It was a busy day for England, who showed eight yellows and one red, as well as allowing a controversial Adam McGurk goal to stand – much to the anger of Barnet boss Martin Allen.
