The Group D fixture will take place at Westleigh Park (7pm), home of the Hawks, with the Blues boss keen to give members of his first-team squad valuable match action.

The likes of Drew Talbot, Adam Buxton and Tom Davies are all in contention to play after missing out on selection for Cook’s matchday squad in Saturday’s win over Mansfield.

Pompey drew their opening group game of the Premier League Cup 0-0 at Norwich in September, fielding a young side containing a number of Academy players.

Cook said: ‘It will be a good game against Wolves.

‘We will have a strong team out tomorrow night.

‘It’s a good opportunity for players to play games.

‘There will be first-team players out there - we will be as strong as we can be.’
