Aaron McCarey is relishing his Pompey opportunity after joining on a one-month emergency loan.
The 23-year-old Wolves goalkeeper has been drafted in this week to plug the injury gap created by knocks to Paul Jones, Brian Murphy and Michael Poke.
Boss Paul Cook has turned to the Irishman to fill the void and will be thrown straight into the side for the League Two trip to Bristol Rovers.
McCarey said: ‘I’m really looking forward to getting going.
‘It’s a great opportunity for myself.
‘I’m coming in hoping to help Portsmouth and hopefully I can do well and they can help me as well so it works both ways.
‘I know a few of the lads already but I’ve got to learn a few of the names.
‘It won’t take long and the important thing is building a relationship quickly.’
