Pompey’s Academy are again in the offing for goal of the month honours.
Andy Awford’s side have two entries on the short-list for the League Football Education’s best strike for February.
George Colson and James Jennings have made it on to the top eight efforts with their classy finishes.
Colson’s goal saw his side grab a 1-0 victory over West Ham.
And it was done in style, too, with the midfield talent finishing a lovely move full of snappy interchanges with a cool finish.
Jennings has been short-listed for his goal in the 2-1 win against Fulham.
The striker showed an impressive turn of pace to burn off the Londoner’s backline before rifling in a left-footed finish from the edge of the box.
That helped ensure success over the side and give Awford bragging rights over his pal and former Pompey team-mate Kit Symons, who oversees the Fulham set-up.
The young Blues pair will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ashley Harris, who picked up the September goal of the month title.
Harris deservedly took that honour with an outstanding overhead kick against MK Dons.
Voting for the academy goal of the month finishes tomorrow at midday.
Meanwhile, Pompey have sold nearly 14,000 tickets for the weekend clash with Bristol City.
The Blues have slashed ticket prices ahead of the critical weekend meeting with the Robins in order to pack Fratton park.
Two adult tickets can now be bought for £19.50.
That’s in the North Stand upper wings, lower and Milton end.
Extra additional adult tickets cost £9.50 and junior tickets £5.
The offer is available by calling 0844 847 1898 (option one). Fans can also buy tickets in person at the Frogmore Road ticket office. Offers are subject to availability and not available online.
