Pompey Academy begin their quest for FA Youth Cup glory next week.
Andy Awford’s side have been drawn against Bristol City in the third round.
The fixture will take place at Fratton Park on Wednesday, December 7 (7pm kick-off).
For the youngsters it is the opportunity to seek some silverware after a tough league campaign.
They should have no fear, though, having beaten both Manchester United and Southampton on their travels this season.
Now they have home advantage against a Robins side they drew 2-2 against back in September.
On that occasion, it was at City’s Failand training ground.
Now Pompey will entertain them at Fratton to get the cup campaign under way.
Last season the Blues exited the competition at the first hurdle after being beaten 3-2 by Manchester United at Moss Lane.
Ryan Williams scored twice during a late rally by the visitors after falling 3-0 behind.
United went on to win the cup following a 6-3 aggregate victory over Sheffield United.
Bristol City also went out in the third round last term, losing 2-0 at home to Birmingham.
Awford’s troops will head into next week’s fixture still buoyed by their recent league win over Southampton.
Dan Butler’s cross was inadvertently turned into his own net by Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed for the only goal of the game.
Pompey recently lost 6-3 to Arsenal, although once again impressed in parts.
The clash with Bristol City will kick off at 7pm, with extra-time and penalties if needed.
