ANDY AWFORD this morning departed as Pompey manager.
The Blues parted company with Awford at a meeting at the club’s Roko training ground in Hilsea.
The depressing 3-1 defeat with Morecambe on Saturday was the final straw for the Pompey board.
Awford said his goodbyes to the Blues players after he was informed of the news.
Pompey were planning to pull the trigger on the former defender when they mathematically couldn’t reach the play-offs.
But the board have now made the move with an 11-point gap to the top seven with four games remaining.
Gary Waddock and Paul Hardyman will take charge of the team for tomorrow’s clash at Stevenage.
