Michael Appleton paid tribute to his troops for ignoring Pompey’s off the field issues and demolishing Peterborough today.
Pompey cruised to a 3-0 win at London Road with a Erik Huseklepp double and Jason Pearce header doing the damage.
Appleton was insistent his men were good value for a three goal victory.
He said: ‘I couldn’t see them scoring today unless it was a spectacular goal. I told the lads that.
‘We played very well, especially with the rubbish going on off the field at the moment.’
Huseklepp grabbed a poacher’s first goal after five minutes before delivering a classy second 10 minutes from time.
He was utilised in a withdrawn role behind Marko Futacs - and wreaked havoc there.
Appleton said: ‘We played Erik in a different role today and he scored two goals.
‘We need him to do that more often. He’s got the capability.’
