Michael Appleton believes his men delivered a taster of what they can achieve next season against Bolton.

Now the Pompey boss is waiting for the green light to actually be able to build a team with just 10 days until his side’s first competitive fixture of the campaign.

Appleton’s team were good value for the 3-0 success against the side who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Bolton were at full strength but goals from Kieran Djilali, Liam Lawrence and Ashley Harris gave Pompey a deserved win.

Appleton said: ‘I was delighted with the lads today.

‘We played some good stuff at times.

‘There were some really well taken goals.

‘I don’t like to pick one person out. They all played well out there.

‘Hopefully we showed fans what we’d like to do next season.

‘We’re just waiting for the green light to do that.’
