Andy Awford spoke of his delight after witnessing a remarkable Pompey fightback to clinch victory.
Going into the final 14 minutes last night, the Blues were 2-0 down against Tranmere following Jennison Myrie-Williams’ strike and a Paul Jones own goal.
Yet substitute Craig Westcarr pulled one back before Ryan Taylor netted twice in three minutes to clinch a dramatic 3-2 triumph.
Fratton Park erupted at the final whistle and Awford heaped praise on his players.
He said: ‘We didn’t play as well as we have done in recent weeks, let’s be honest, but we had chances still.
‘You are not going to play 10/10 or 9/10 every single week, but tonight we did drop below the levels first half and went for it.
‘The players stuck at it that was the main thing, they have never lost belief tonight, Westie (Craig Westcarr) coming on to get his goal, people who haven’t been involved coming off the bench.
‘When you are losing 2-0 you can either look very silly and get beat by five or you can sometimes turn it around.
‘I am delighted for the players and all credit to them.’
