Omar Beckles has insisted Shrewsbury do not fear Pompey.

Kenny Jackett’s men have made a flying start to the League One campaign and sit second in the table following five victories and a draw.

In contrast, Shrewsbury are in the relegation zone and have yet to pick up a win from their opening six matches.

John Askey’s side make the trip to Fratton Park tomorrow hoping to finally break their duck this term.

Beckles knows Shrewsbury are the underdogs heading into the clash.

But the former Accrington defender stressed the visitors are capable of causing an upset.

He told Shrewsbury’s official website: ‘It always is a tough test when we go to their ground.

‘It can be intimidating at times. We're building on our confidence.

‘Hopefully we can rise to the occasion – sometimes it's good going into the game as the underdog.

‘When seasons start and the in-form teams make their way to the top, it is always the underdogs that look at that and be thinking “This a chance to prove a point”.

‘There's no-one to be afraid of.

‘It's only a matter of time before we get three points on the board.’
