Jack Pearce admits he's unsure how long Pompey will retain Dan Smith for.

The striker has been recalled by the Blues from his loan spell at Bognor Regis.

It comes after Conor Chaplin was not included in Kenny Jackett’s squad for Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Doncaster.

After making a flying start at Nyewood Lane, scoring four goals in many appearances, Smith was absent for the Rocks' 3-3 draw against Lewes yesterday.

Smith featured in a behind-closed-door friendly for Pompey's reserves against Swindon Town earlier today, scoring in the 3-1 victory at their Hilsea training base.

Pearce revealed nobody from Pompey has been in touch with him after the 18-year-old returned to Fratton Park.

And the boss it still waiting to learn if Smith will again be loaned to Bognor this season.

Pearce told bognor.co.uk: 'All I know is that he would play in a game today, whether that is a permanent recall or just for this week.

'I’m sure we’ll learn more later in the week.

'Nobody from Portsmouth Football Club has been in contact with me and we’ll wait and see how it develops.'
