Steve Cotterill praised the resilience of his Pompey men as their flying form continued at Ipswich.
The Blues made it four wins on the bounce and the same amount of clean sheets along the way with a 2-0 win at Portman Road.
They had to dig deep to do that as they withstood constant Ipswich pressure in the first half.
The Blues stayed in the game, though, before David Nugent and David Cotterill did the damage after the restart.
Pompey boss Cotterill feels they have to show the same work ethic if their flying form is to continue.
He said: ‘It was a tough first half for us and we did well to get to half-time.
‘It isn’t going to be easy coming to places like this and they gave us a hard time.
‘But we stayed in it and I don’t feel they gave us many problems in the second half.
‘It was a game of two halves, really.
‘They are a great club on a good run so it’s good to come here and get the result.
‘Now we need to carry on working as hard as we have here.’
