Bristol Rovers are heading towards a Milton End sell-out to ensure a bumper gate this weekend.
Pompey host their fellow League Two strugglers on Saturday in the knowledge a fourth successive victory would all but preserve their Football League status.
Rovers are in wretched form, with one win from their past eight matches – with five defeats.
They also have the worst away record in all four divisions, winning one of their 21 league games on their travels and scoring only 11 times.
Nonetheless, their trip to Fratton Park is eagerly anticipated, with 2,200 tickets so far sold as they close in on taking up the full allocation of 2,500.
At present, 15,447 seats in total have been taken up for what appears could be comfortably one of the best Fratton Park attendances this season.
The opening-day crowd of 18,181 against Oxford ranks as the highest, boosted by 2,500 away fans.
The next highest was 17,254 against Cheltenham last month – a figure helped by reduced prices for Pompey fans rather than particularly good home form.
Bristol Rovers’ visit marks a crucial three days for Andy Awford’s in-form side, with a trip to improving Northampton next up on Bank Holiday Monday (April 21).
That Sixfields occasion has seen all 1,361 Blues tickets snapped up within days of going on general release.
It follows on from the 1,374 of the Fratton faithful present at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday to witness a 4-1 triumph and one of Pompey’s finest performances of the season.
The final away match of the season is at Bury on Saturday, April 26, with seats now on sale.
The Blues have been given an initial allocation of 1,800 East Stand seats, with the possibility of more if required.
Tickets are now on sale to season ticket holders and will, subject to availability, go on general sale from 10am tomorrow.
