Bury’s players are helping pay for an extended stay in Portsmouth after today’s match against Pompey.
Shakers’ manager David Flitcroft says the team have contributed financially for the long trip from the north west in a bid to maintain their League Two promotion push.
Fourth-placed Bury, already guaranteed a play-off place, face fifth-placed Southend, who are a point behind them next Tuesday.
A report on www.mancunianmatters.co.uk says Bury players are paying to stay in Portsmouth after the match and then catch a plane home tomorrow rather than face a long coach journey.
“The lads have put some money in to stay down on Saturday after the game because the Southend game is so important,” said Flitcroft.
“They are paying a contribution to the flights home on Sunday and that is the type of commitment these group of lads are giving me.”
