Pompey secured their spot in the Checkatrade Trophy last 16 after overcoming Arsenal under-21s at Fratton Park on Tuesday.

Goals in each half from Brett Pitman and Andre Green saw Kenny Jackett's troops run out 2-1 winners against the Gunners' emerging talents.

That maintained the Blues' perfect record in the competition. They now await to discover who they’ll face in the last 16.

The third round remains regionalised into southern and norther sections, so Jackett's side are restricted to who they may face.

It’s been confirmed the draw will take place on Sky Sports News on Saturday, December 8 from 12.20pm.

Presenter Adam Leventhal will be joined by Alan McInally and Matt Le Tissier.

And here's who the Blues could come up against for the right to reach the quarter-finals.

Chelsea under-21s were 2-1 winners over League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon.

Pompey were beaten by the Stamford Bridge side's youngsters in the last 16 last season.

League One promotion-chasing Peterborough could also be drawn against Jackett’s men.

Steve Evans' Posh delivered a 2-0 success at Exeter City.

After ending Arsenal under-21s’ run in the competition, the Blues could meet their arch-rivals Tottenham.

Jackett's men enjoyed a 3-2 triumph against Spurs' youngsters at Fratton Park in Southern Group A earlier in the competition.

But Tottenham must first overcome Oxford United, with that tie taking place on Tuesday, December 18.

League Two strugglers Northampton and Cheltenham are also potential third-round opponents.

The Cobblers recorded a penalty-shootout win at Cambridge after the teams drew 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Cheltenham also needed penalties, running out 7-6 victors against Newport following a 1-1 stalemate.

Another of Pompey's League One promotion rivals could await in the next round.

Luton Town host Southend tonight at Kenilworth Road.

In the other remaining southern section second-round tie, Swansea City under-21s entertain Bristol Rovers.

All third-round fixtures are due to be played the week commencing Monday, January 7.
