Clarke skippers youthful Pompey

Matt Clarke has been named as skipper at Fleetwood tonight.

With Brett Pitman and Gareth Evans injured for up to a month, the 21-year-old has been handed the captain's armband at Highbury Stadium.

It reflects the young make-up of Kenny Jackett's side against the struggling hosts.

The starting XI averages 22.5 years, while the substitutes bench contains five players to have emerged through the Blues' Academy.

Jackett has made three changes to the team which lost at Southend at the weekend, all enforced.

Nathan Thompson (four-match ban), Pitman and Evans drop out, replaced by Adam May, Matty Kennedy and Oli Hawkins.

In addition, Academy striker Dan Smith is called up to serve on a bench which contains Jack Whatmough, back after five months out with knee ligament damage.

Meanwhile, Kal Naismith misses out with a groin injury.
