Coleman to welcome Portsmouth's '˜proper' fans but plans not doing them any favours

John Coleman said he was looking forward to Pompey's '˜proper' fans making their mark on the Wham Stadium this weekend.

But on the pitch the Stanley boss admitted he expects his players to make the same impact when the Blues arrive.

Pompey travel to the north west as League One leaders, with over 1,000 of the Fratton faithful expected to accompany them.

Accrington sit eight points behind Kenny Jackett's side in fourth place and were beaten 4-1 last time out against Luton

Prior to that result, though, Accy beat second-place Peterborough 1-0 at London Road.

And with that type of ability, he believes his side should hold no fear of the Blues, regardless of their stature.

'˜It's great, Portsmouth always bring plenty of fans and I have had a few chats with them after the games here over the years,' Coleman told Accrington's official website.

'˜They are a big club and it's always a great atmosphere. They are what you would call 'proper' football fans as they have followed their club through thick and thin and have stuck with their club. They are seeing the rewards now.

'˜They are not top of the league by fluke, they are a strong powerful unit and we have done our homework on them.

'˜We will give them the respect with how many wins they have and where they are in the league but we are more concerned with what we can do to them not what they can do to us.

'˜We don't fear anyone as we have got the player with the most shots on goal in this league and the one with the most shots on target in Sean McConville.

'˜Peterborough are the top scorers in the league and we stopped them so hopefully we can do the same with Portsmouth.'
