Positive Pompey will relish their FA Cup third round challenge at current Championship leaders Norwich City.

Blues assistant boss Joe Gallen revealed the League One table toppers will have full belief and look forward to measuring themselves against high-calibre opposition.

It promises to be an exciting contest.

He said: ‘Norwich, as we know, are currently top of the Championship.

‘That’s a very high-standard league so for them to be top they are obviously having a very good season when you consider the likes of Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Derby and all the rest of them. There are huge clubs in that league now.

‘Then for us to draw them away from home makes that a very tough game, a very tough fixture for us, but we are having a reasonably good season so far.

‘So obviously we will go there with plenty of confidence. It will be a good test for us against a team who are doing well in a league that we actually aspire to be in at some point in the future.’

The third round of the FA Cup is scheduled to take place over the weekend of Saturday, January 5.

Winning clubs will receive £135,500 after The FA doubled the prize fund at the beginning of the season.

Pompey relied on a very late goal from Andre Green to seal their 1-0 win at Rochdale in the second round on Sunday.
